Launching Your Mobile App: Adding a Privacy Policy Page to Your Shopify Store

A privacy policy is a statement or legal document that discloses some or all the ways you gather, use, disclose and manage your customers' data. And, without one of these listed on your website, you cannot host an app in the App and Google Play Stores.
So, if you already have one, I’ll show you exactly where you need to display this, to get your app listed for people to download.
The things we cover will allow you to add a privacy policy page to your Shopify Store and App Listing, allowing you to be approved to host your mobile app in the App and Google Play Stores.
To do this, we’ll go over three things.

How to add this to your website..
And, how to add this to your App Listing within your Tapcart dashboard.
So, the first thing with all of this is actually having a privacy policy to work with. If you don’t already have one, we have a lesson showing you how to use the Shopify Privacy Policy Generator to do this.
If you already have one, great! then, the only thing you need to prepare is access to this in either text or file format — preferably text, but either is fine.
Now, what we need to do is add this privacy policy to our website, so it’s visible for customers and the Apple and Google Play Developers to review.
A common place to host this is on a single page with text, linked from the footer of your website.
Now, you can do this with pretty much any website builder you’re using, and it’s the same thing using your Shopify store.
You’ll simply sign in to your Shopify account..
On your dashboard.. Open your ‘Online Store’..
Go to ‘Pages’..
Add a new page..
Title this page.. ‘Privacy Policy..
And then, you’ll paste your privacy policy here.
Make sure the page is ‘Visible’..
And, then save your new page.
Then, to create a footer link for this page. Meaning, a link that customers can open from the bottom of your website—that directs customers to this page.. head over to ‘Navigation’..
Go to ‘Footer Menu’..
Then, ‘Add menu item’..
Add the name of the link.. I’ll write ‘Privacy Policy’ again..
And then, I can choose the ‘Page’ — ’Privacy Policy’.
Because we named the page, ‘Privacy Policy’, it will automatically show up here.
Click ‘Add’..
And then, save our new menu item.
And, there we go.. There is now a footer link, directing customers to a privacy policy page.
Now, for the app listing..
Because we already created a page with the privacy policy on our website, the only thing we need to do is update a link in our app listing that leads to this page.
We can do this by heading into our Tapcart dashboard..
Choose the ‘Settings Tabs’..
Go to ‘App Listing’..
And, down at the bottom, under ‘Business Information,’ simply paste the URL of the privacy policy page on your Shopify website here, where it says ‘Privacy URL’.
