DESIGN YOUR APP: MULTI-LEVEL COLLECTIONS MENU
Improve your app’s navigation by designing your multi-level collection menu.
This is a menu item option that will automatically appear in your ‘Menu Sidebar’.
By Optimizing this feature you will improve your app’s navigation and by customizing the design banner for each collection, you will create a fully branded and aesthetically dynamic experience.
In this lesson we’ll dive into adding and editing the category groups in your ‘Collections Menu’.
And, how to customize this to streamline the navigation experience for your app users.
So, Let’s start with where to find the editor for the collections menu.
In your Tapcart dashboard, head over to the ‘Design Tab’ and choose ‘Collections’..
This will open the editor for the ‘Collection Menu’.
From here, we have this menu builder..
And, we can drag & drop in any of our Shopify store’s collections.
Once we drag this in.. It automatically creates a group.
And, we can edit the title..
Or, add a banner image here
Then once I have a group created..
Let’s say ‘Featured’..
I can leave this as is, if I want customers to tap this banner and automatically be navigated to my ‘Featured’ collection.
Or, I can add subgroups to add the associated collections to this primary group but we’ll dive more into that shortly.
For now, I’m going to save this..
So, I can preview my app and see that this category is immediately available in the ‘Sidebar Menu’ under ‘Collections’.
And, once I select this..
It will link directly to the ‘Collection Menu’ for me to navigate among all of the collections I have so far.
Now, we can add sub-groups to our collection menu as well.
To do this, simply drag-and-drop any collection to the bottom of the group, and it will populate here.
We can add as many as we’d like..
Re-arrange in any order..
And, edit the title of each of these collections.
Now, if I save and go to preview my app..
I can see under our collection menu..
This now appears as a drop-down for this ‘Featured’ collection.
As a pro-tip, remember that these collection menus are used to simplify the navigation and app experience for your users..
If you want your customer to click on the category and automatically navigate to a specific collection, do not add the same collection as a sub-group.
And, there you go..
You now understand how to utilize the multi-level collections menu in your mobile app with Tapcart.
